The Center of Advanced Elastomer Materials (CAEM), from College of Materials Science and Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), was founded in 1975, which is an important research group in the field of Rubber Science and Engineering with a high reputation in the field of global rubber. Based on the major demands of energy, resources, environment, life and health and the technological upgrading of traditional rubber industry, the CAEM carries out the whole chain research from the aspects of basic scientific research, key technology innovation and major engineering application, cultivates high-level innovative talents, and promotes the improvement of basic science and technology in the field of elastomeric materials.
CAEM has published more than 600 SCI papers. The members of CAEM have won Hou Debang Chemical Industry Science and Technology Award, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Award for Scientific and Technology Innovation of Ho Leung Ho Lee, Spark-Thomas Award from ACS Rubber Division, Morand Lambla Award from International Polymer Processing Society, Asia Research Award from Society of Chemical Engineering of Japan, and IRCO Medal of International Rubber Conference Organization. The members of CAEM also serve as the deputy editor of Science Bulletin, editorial board member of Composites Science and Technology, Rubber Chemistry and Technology, Express Polymer Letters, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, and so on.
CAEM pays more attention to international exchange and cooperation. CAEM cooperates closely with University of Akron, Case Western Reserve University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Louisiana Tech. University, University of Bradford, The University of Sydney, University of Lorraine, Polytechnic University of Milan, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, TRINSEO, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Total, BASF, and so on. CAEM is the important part of UK-China AMRI, the Joint Laboratory of Advanced Materials of BUCT and Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy, and the ESP-China JRCAM.
